Yummy Pineapple and Strawberry Smoothie
If you read my profile, you may remember that I like making smoothies. I'm outside in my favorite spot (hammock in my backyard) enjoying a delicious strawberry and pineapple smoothie.
A while back, I found a recipe for a piña colada type smoothie without alcohol. I love the combination of pineapple and coconut, so I made this and it was delicious. Specifically, the smoothie recipe includes pineapples, coconut milk, coconut water, and half a banana.
That was my favorite type of smoothie and then when I was out, it was a hot day and I was getting thirsty so I stopped for a smoothie at a local place that specializes in smoothies and acai bowls. They make a smoothie that's similar to the one described in the previous paragraphs but also include strawberries, so I tried this one and it was the best I've had. Thus, I started adding strawberries into my non-alcohol piña colada smoothies. With the pineapples and strawberries, it's sweet enough with the pineapples and strawberries that I don't have to add any additional sweetener.
I blend a frozen banana with the rest of the fruit semi-frozen. If you're using unfrozen fruit, you may wish to use ice so the smoothie isn't more of a juice and maintains the thickness and texture of a smoothie. However, too much ice can water it down and you won't need it if your fruit is frozen enough. If it's not blending, then add in more liquid. Don't keep it going when it's not blending because that can be danger, causing the blender to heat up and let off smoke, causing the cup of the blender to break or destroying the blender.
What's your favorite type of smoothie?
A while back I was on a detox and was on a routine of drinking the lean mean drink, you've probably heard of it I'm sure; consisting of
ReplyDelete1 cucumber
4 celery stalks
2 green apples
8 kale
1 lemon
1 in (2.5 cm) piece of ginger
I have to admit the flavour wasnt spectacular but I dont think that was the main purpose of that drink.
p.s. any sweet smoothie is probably a nice smoothie to me!
Thank you for sharing the recipe. Looks very healthy.
