Wicca-licious!

Spiritually and religiously, I consider myself eclectic.  That is, I don't strictly adhere to just one religion and integrate elements of various spiritual paths.  Yet, one I am especially drawn to is Wicca.

Wicca is a nature-based spiritual path.  I remember reading years ago that we may be Wiccan if we're in awe of a raindrop and was thinking, "Yes, that's me!"  Wiccans believe that the divine (or whichever other term they may use) is in nature, rather than a separate being above and beyond all of us.  The divine is among us, in the trees, grass, dirt, water, sky, mountains, leaves and so many more elements of nature.

In fact, I'm outside on my hammock now writing this blog entry.  Two large trees hold up the hammock.  This is my favorite place to be and I often spend hours out here, or sometimes elsewhere in nature.  While some people may find this boring and get restless, I love it.

Wicca also appeals to me because it's non-dogmatic and doesn't claim to be the sole truth or slam other religious paths.  In fact, the Wiccan path is accepting of different spiritual paths and doesn't evangelize or claim to be for everybody.  Wicca is also a peaceful spiritual path.  After all, who have Wiccans bombed or attacked.

Is this the first you learned of Wicca?  Or, do you think of Wicca as being about witchcraft?  Or, do you think of Wicca as being Satan-worshipers?  Wicca is actually focused on witchcraft, but not in the sensationalized ways people may assume.  In Wicca, true witches only don't use magic for harmful or bad purposes.  Also, witches in this faith are defined as people who have achieved high levels of wisdom and are strongly in tune with the elements of nature.  Just for fun:  If you're interested in finding out what type of a which you are, there are quizzes online.  Here's a link to one:  https://blessedbemagick.com/pages/quiz-what-type-of-witch-are-you

Any claim that Wiccans are Satan worshippers is a myth.  In fact, Wiccans don't believe in Satan.  How can we worship a being we don't believe in.  The existence of Satan is more of a Christian belief.

Consistent with the centrality of nature, Wiccan rituals center around the elements of nature:  specifically land, air, water, and fire.  These are the elements we need to live and sustain life.  We can practice Wicca individually or in groups.  Wiccan group rituals often take place outdoors and with people forming a circle.

Wiccan is also focused on magic, but not in the ways people may assume.  In Wicca, magic is more about nature than the supernatural.  Watching the sunrise or set can be magical from a Wiccan perspective.

Until next time;  Merry meet, merry part, and merry meet again.
